Find the approximate location of your iOS device, and Apple Watch. You can locate your device if:

  • Find My iPhone is set up on the iPhone you want to locate. Apple Watch must be paired with an iPhone.

  • The iOS device, or Apple Watch is online, awake and in range of a Wi-Fi network.

If you have Family Sharing set up, you can also locate a family member’s device. For more information, see the Apple Support article Family Sharing and location.

  1. Go to Find My iPhone on iCloud.com.

If you don’t see Find My iPhone on iCloud.com, your account just has access to iCloud web-only features. To gain access to Find My iPhone and other iCloud features, set up iCloud on your iOS device or Mac.

  2. Click All Devices. In the list, the dot next to the device indicates its status:

    • A green dot  means it’s online. If the device can be located, you also see the time it was last located.

    • A grey dot  means it’s offline. If the device was recently online, you also see the time it was last located. If the device has been offline for over 24 hours, you would see “Offline.”

  3. Select the device you want to locate.

    • If the device is online and can be located, its approximate location is shown on the map.

Note: Maps and location information depend on data collection services provided by third parties. These services are subject to change and may not be available in all geographic areas, resulting in inaccurate or incomplete maps or location information.

If your device is online it will show you the approximate location, if you select 'Actions' at the bottom of the screen it will bring up a menu along the bottom of the screen as shown above. This gives you 3 actions you can do with your device.

  • Play Sound
    • This Plays a sound from the device to help identify its location if you are nearby.
  • Lost Mode
    • This remotely locks the device and displays a message of your choosing (it is recommended you display a number that you can be contacted on if your device is found)
  • Erase iPhone
    • This will delete all the content on your device. Until you remove your iPhone from Find My iPhone it will require your Apple ID to sign in before it can be locked, so if your device is found but not returned it cannot be used without your Apple ID email and password.
